Medical Assisting Lab Assistant
  • Engage/observe students in activities for example VS, EKG or other noninvasive lab procedures following instructors demo.
  • Assist instructor in handing over supplies to students for the day.
  • Keep track of lab inventories and supplies.
  • Ensure students are following OSHA guidelines in the lab.
  • Assist instructor during Lecture/lab in maintaining discipline in the classroom/lab.
  • Keep the classroom/ lab organized with updated information on clip board regarding CPR, NCCT or CS seminar dates etc.
  • Assist instructor in keeping students documents signed like
Phlebotomy, contact info and the attendance policy acknowledged forms in the beginning of each module.
  • Help student for access to student portal and Unitek library.
  • Monitor students who need extra help in completing their check off on time.
  • Substitute instructors and able to conduct the class, if require. (Does not include teaching).
  • Organize and keep track of student’s folders.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (RMA, CMA) preferred
  • At least 2 - 3 years of hands-on experience
  • Current knowledge of Medical Assistant practice
  • Ability to mentor a highly diverse student population
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in interpersonal oral presentation; excellent communication skills
Per diem position with responsibilities of approximately less than 30 hours per week at the institution.  This position will be classified as an “At-will”
Reports to Program Director and Director of Education
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office/laboratory environment with exposure to medical hazards (i.e. needles, sharps, electrical equipment, bacteriostatic and bactericidal cleaning solutions). Physical demands involve some lifting and moving of equipment. PC workstation using Microsoft Windows environment; telephone, copy machine and other general office equipment. Teaching aids including LCD, overhead projector, TV/VCR and wet laboratory equipment.
