Employee relations managers are responsible for facilitating employee relations and resolving human resource issues on behalf of a company. As a branch of human resource management, incumbent in this position deal with everything related to employee and management relations and work to help employees and management understand each other. This is a collaborative position in the HR field, so people with a passion for creative conflict resolution and a knack for negotiation will thrive in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Design a program in Employee Relations to ensure the fair treatment of employees and effective communication between employees and managers.

·Creating and enforcing policies and procedures related to employee relationship program.

·Resolve workplace conflicts and conduct all investigation related to employee complaint.

·Address employee concerns

·Advise managers on how to effectively deal with employees, especially in difficult situations.

·Train business managers on handling employee concerns


Qualification and experience:

  • Interpersonal skills – the employee relations manager often plays the role of counselor, mediator, and connector between the workforce and management, so strong interpersonal skills are essential to identify the needs of employees and management
  • Problem-solving skills – it’s up to the employee relations manager to devise solutions to issues that arise in the workplace
  • Negotiation – employee relations managers present information and mediate with managers and employees to reach contract terms that please both sides
  • Communication skills – healthy employee relations depend on the flow of information through the company. The ability to listen and understand people’s concerns is important for this position, as is the ability to provide answers to complex workplace questions
  • Analytical skills – as the link between employees and managers, employee relations managers need strong analytical skills to assess situations and make accurate observations in the workplace
A bachelor’s degree in human resources or business is required for this position. 6 – 8 years of minimum experience in employee relations or HR management is required as well. Leadership, experience with labor laws and industry certifications can give job candidates an edge over the competition.
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
The position is based out of Fremont / Newport Beach. Frequent travel to all campuses is expected for this position.
